Hard times for the newspaper industry

I am looking for a real job. It is a stunning sign of change when I find better job ads in my local free entertainment paper than the established newspaper of record. The latter has mostly shit jobs that pay nothing, or require beaucoup training. However, the free paper actually has rare PUBLISHING INDUSTRY jobs that I am actually qualified for.

Free news on the Internet is supposed to be what is hurting the mainstream papers. As exemplified by the New York Times, they already proved they're useless to society by their simpleminded rubberstamping of the Iraq affair.

Newspapers. A down industry. Transportation costs have got to be hurting them too, making newsprint more expensive to move.
